Adult Rehabilitation Centers

We have 36 Adult Rehabilitation Centers in the Northeast that offer a spiritually-based rehabilitation program.

If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, we can help.

Our centers provide a safe place for recovery, while rebuilding a lifestyle free and safe from substance abuse. Our six month program offers a place to sleep, food to eat, and a new beginning - with no income or insurance required.

History

For over 100 years The Salvation Army has been fighting alcoholism at its Adult Rehabilitation Centers. This ministry began in 1881 when William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army, opened shelters for homeless people on the streets of England. During this time many homeless people were also alcoholics, and it was in these shelters that the rehabilitation ministry began. Today, our rehabilitation ministry serves men and women struggling with substance abuse.

The Mission

Our rehabilitation ministry provides housing, clothing, educational aid and work experience to men and women who are seeking help for a drug or alcohol addiction. We focus rehabilitation around the spiritual fulfillment that comes through a personal relationship with Christ, offering a variety of programs that enhance this spiritual ideal.

Funding

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers are totally self-supporting, receiving no government funding. In order to support the ministry, The Salvation Army takes donated items, recycles them and then sells them in Salvation Army Stores. These donations are accepted and processed on-site at our stores or via our free pick-up service.
