Area youth invited to RJ’s Spray Park Back to School Splash Aug. 15 - 19
Enjoy one last splash before school starts with FREE ADMISSION to the Kroc Center's splash pad from 11am to 3pm, August 15-19!
ASHLAND, Ohio – The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, 527 E. Liberty St. in Ashland, is inviting area youth to celebrate one last splash before heading back to school with FREE ADMISSION to RJ's Spray Park from Tuesday, August 15 through Saturday, August 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Thanks to the generous support of the Archer Family and the Norma Foundation, RJ’s Spray Park re-opened to the community on Saturday, July 1. Since that time, the splash pad has been free to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Members of the Ashland Kroc Center and day-pass holders had access during the remaining hours of operation.
“As an homage to the original spray pad, and our commitment to the community, we want to ensure all kids from Ashland County and surrounding communities have a chance to enjoy one last splash before heading back to school,” says Dan Lawson, PhD, Director of Community Relations and Development for the Ashland Kroc Center.
Lawson adds that he is grateful for the support of the Ashland community, as RJ’s Spray Park also serves another important purpose. “All funds from memberships and day passes help support the social services at the Ashland Kroc Center, like the food, utility, emergency and holiday assistance programs,” Lawson explains.
While RJ’s Spray Park will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15-19, access to the inside of the building will be limited. During this time, the Kroc Center team will be conducting maintenance and cleaning of equipment and the facility.
From Aug. 12-14 the entire building will be closed for maintenance and staff training. From Aug. 15-18, the facility will have reduced operations.
Reduced operations Aug. 15-18 will include:
- Social Services: By appointment, 9am-3pm
- Food Pantry: Tues. through Thurs., 10am-2pm; closed Fri., Aug. 18
- Community Meals: Drive-through service 11-11:30am
- Fitness Center: Closed
- Indoor Waterpark: Closed
