Autumn Adventures Await this Fall at The Ashland Kroc Center!
Intro to Anime, Fused Glass Art, and Kroctober Halloween event are all in store
ASHLAND, Ohio – With the official first week of fall finally here, Ashland County and surrounding community residents are invited to get ready for the season with fun, fitness and educational opportunities at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center of Ashland.
Whether you are looking for a place that offers spiritual enrichment and encouragement, a clean, family-friendly place to get physically fit, where your kids can grow their artistic skills; or you just need a local spot to have fun this fall, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center of Ashland has all of that and MORE!
“In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army, and the wishes of benefactor Joan Kroc for the Kroc Center facilities to focus on recreation, education and the arts, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland provides opportunities that bridge the gap between potential and opportunity for children and adults,” explains says Dan Lawson, PhD, Director of Community Relations and Development. “Our programs and services are focused on a holistic approach to caring for individuals, strengthening families, and enriching the lives of seniors.”
To deliver on that commitment, The Ashland Kroc Center programming and recreation teams collaborate with local instructors and coaches to provide a variety of classes and events. A small sampling of some of the new and upcoming classes is outlined below. All activities are open to both members and nonmembers alike; however, individuals and families with a Kroc Center membership do receive a discount.
New this fall:
- Intro to Anime: Tuesdays, Oct. 7, 14, 28 and Nov. 4, 11 & 18 | 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. | Ages: 13 to 18 yrs | Instructor: Abby Mozina | Cost: Non-Members - $100 | Members - $75 | There is a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 15 for this class.
- Dive into the vibrant world of anime and manga through this immersive, creative class! Designed for both newcomers and passionate fans, this course blends artistic skill-building with cultural exploration, offering students a well-rounded experience.
- Fused Glass Art Class: Thursdays, November 6, 13 & 20 | 6 to 7:30 p.m. | Age: 16+| Instructor: Abby Mozina | Cost: Members – $75 | Non-Members – $85 | There is a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 8 for this class.
- Fused glass involves layering cuts and bits of colored glass, then firing them in a kiln at around 700–820 °C (~1,300–1,500 °F) until they meld smoothly into a single piece—usable as dishes, art panels, jewelry, and more.
- Mommy & Me Swim: Mondays, Sept. 29 - Nov. 17, 9 – 10 a.m. | Ages: 0-2 | Cost: Members - Free | Non-Members - $5
- Calling all new moms and grandmothers! Bring your little ones to our aquatics facility for a bonding experience like no other. Spend time floating with the new addition/s to your family and meet other mothers in a safe, quiet setting.
- Kroctober Halloween Fest: Friday, October 31 | Halloween Fest: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. and includes: Bounce Houses & Inflatables, Food Trucks, Haunted Halloween Train, Spooky Skating, Meet Jack Skellington, Crafts, Games & Prizes,
- Ghostly Glow Swim: 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Join us for the first-ever Glow-Swim at The Kroc Center! (Limit 100 swimmers)
- Halloween Fest Pricing: $10-member, $15 non-member | Ghostly Glow Swim Pricing: $10-member, $15 non-member | Purchase both and save $5!
Fall favorites:
- Family Fun Night - First and Third Friday of the Month (Oct. 3 & 17, Nov. 7 & 21, Dec. 5 & 19) 5-7 p.m. | Members - Free; Non-Members - $7. Bring the whole family to the Kroc Center and enjoy a night out together! We will offer a variety of activities each month which may include laser tag, bounce houses, the LU interactive system, games and crafts, karaoke, etc.
- Friday FunFit - Second Friday of the Month (Oct. 10, Nov. 14 & Dec. 12) 5-7 p.m. | Members - Free; Non-Members - $7. Bring your whole family to the Kroc Center for a night of fun activities geared toward exercise and sports! Activities may include batting cages, climbing wall, the LU interactive system, NERF wars, laser tag, etc. Please Note: The climbing wall, when open, will be available for an additional charge of $5 per participant.
- Family Skate Night - Fourth Friday of the Month (Sept. 26 & Oct. 24) | 5-7 p.m. | Members - Free; Non-Members - $7 | Roll your way through the end of the month with Family Skate Night at The Kroc!
- Bounce-N-Play: Fridays, October 3 - December 12 | 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. | Members - Free, Non-Members - $5 | (Ages 2-5) Get rid of the Friday Furies at the Kroc Center’s BOUNCE-N-PLAY. With games, activities, music, and bounce houses, there is no better way to burn some energy than at The Kroc!
