Kick Off the New Year with Exciting New Programs at The Kroc!
From futsal and co-ed soccer to tap dance and drone soccer, something new is on the schedule for all ages
ASHLAND, Ohio - A new year brings new opportunities, and The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland is kicking off 2026 with an exciting lineup of new programs, classes, and leagues designed to help the community stay active, try something new, and connect with others.
Whether your New Year’s resolution is to improve your fitness, learn a new skill, explore the arts, help your children build confidence, or simply have fun together, The Ashland Kroc Center has something for everyone this January.
“In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army and Joan Kroc’s vision for Kroc Centers to focus on recreation, education, and the arts, we strive to offer programs that truly meet the needs of our community,” said Dan Lawson, PhD, Director of Community Relations and Development. “Our January programming reflects that commitment—providing opportunities for growth, movement, creativity, and connection for both youth and adults.”
To deliver on that promise, The Kroc Center education and recreation teams partner with local instructors and coaches to introduce new and engaging offerings for the new year. All programs are open to members and non-members, with discounted pricing available for Kroc Center members.
New & Featured Winter Programs
New Year Kick-Off at The Kroc – Friday, January 2, 4 to 6 p.m.
Visit us and see what we have to offer. From our fitness center to our sports programs and events for families, there is something for everyone at the Kroc! Enjoy a sneak peak of our upcoming programs and events while speaking with and asking questions of fitness instructors, administrators, and coaches. Members – Free; Non-Members - $7
Youth Futsal - Tuesdays, January 6 – March 3 | Ages 11-14 | Game times 7-10 p.m.
Adult Futsal - Thursdays, January 8 – March 5 | Ages 15+| Game times 7-10 p.m.
New this January, the Kroc Center is introducing futsal, a fast-paced, indoor version of soccer that emphasizes skill development, ball control, and teamwork. Offered for both youth and adults, futsal is perfect for players looking to sharpen their skills or enjoy competitive play in a fun, energetic environment.
Adult Co-Ed Soccer - Tuesdays, January 6 – March 3 | Ages 15+ | 8-10 p.m.
Youth Co-Ed Soccer - Thursdays, January 8 – March 5 | Ages 11-14 | 8-10 p.m.
The Kroc Center is also launching co-ed soccer leagues for youth and adults, welcoming players of all levels of experience. These leagues focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, and staying active while having fun. Members Free; Non-members - $10
Dodgeball - Thursdays, Jan. 8 – Feb. 26 | 5 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. | Ages: 10 - 16
Duck, dip, dive—and dodge! This new dodgeball offering provides a high-energy, social way for participants to stay active while enjoying some friendly competition. Members - $30; Non-Members - $40.
Club Stunt – Tuesdays, January 13 - March 24 | 6 - 7 p.m. | AGES: 8 - 14
STUNT is one of the fastest growing female sports in the country! All experience levels in cheer,
dance, or gymnastics welcome. Opportunities to work with the championship Ashland University STUNT team! Members - $100; Non-members - $140
Introductory Tap Dance - Wednesdays, January 21 – March 11 | Youth (Ages 10-16): 6 –6:45 p.m. | Adults: 6:45 - 7:30 p.m.
For those looking to explore the arts, introductory tap classes are stepping onto the schedule this January—perfect for beginners eager to learn rhythm, coordination, and classic tap technique in a welcoming setting. Members - $75; Non-members - $90
Drone Soccer – Mondays & Wednesdays, February 2 – April 27| 5:30–7 p.m. | Grades 6 – 12
Drone Soccer is the only educational robotic competition that is also an internationally sanctioned team sport by the World Air Sports Federation. Opposing teams fly RC quadcopter drones in protective cages designed for full-contact gameplay as they ram and block each other in midair. Students will build, program, and repair professional-grade drones while learning valuable skills that can lead to high-paying aerospace careers. Members - $200; Non-members - $275
Self-Defense - Feb. 2 – April 27; Youth Class (7 to 12 years): 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Adult Class: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Self-defense classes return in January, helping participants build confidence, situational awareness, and practical skills through hands-on instruction led by experienced instructors. Members: $45; Non-Members: $55
Family Fun & More
In addition to new programs, families can continue to enjoy Kroc Center favorites like Bounce-N-Play, Family Fun Nights, roller skating events, and seasonal dances, making the Kroc a hub for recreation and connection all winter long.
