Local Organizations Unite to Support Safety Town at The Ashland Kroc Center
Special thanks to Ashland Area Safety Council and the Ashland Bike Company
ASHLAND, Ohio – Gifts from the Ashland Area Safety Council and the Ashland Bike Company are helping to ensure Ashland’s incoming kindergarteners learn essential safety basics at the upcoming Safety Town at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland.
Scheduled for July 21, 22 and 23, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Kroc Kids Safety Town teaches fire, bus, and bike safety basics over a three-day period. Each participant will receive a bike helmet, certificate of completion, and participate in a graduation ceremony.
To help with some of the expense of the program, Ashland Area Safety Council has once again generously provided a $1,000 donation.
“This is our third year proudly sponsoring The Ashland Kroc Center’s Safety Town Program, which helps our youngest community members learn essential safety fundamentals. The Ashland Area Safety Council is dedicated to promoting safety in both the workplace and the community. That’s why we’re honored to partner with The Kroc Center in teaching these vital skills to the next generation of leaders,” said Steve Carroll, BS, BA, LPN, Chair of the Safety Council and Manager of EMS, Emergency Preparedness, and Community Outreach at UH Samaritan.
In addition to the Safety Council’s financial donation, the Ashland Bike Company is generously providing bike helmets for this year’s participants, and providing replacement seats at their cost for the bikes used during Safety Town program.
In addition to the financial donation and donation of goods, many organizations from the Ashland County community volunteer their time, including:
- Ohio State Highway Patrol - Ashland
- Ashland County Sheriff’s Office
- Ashland City Fire Department
- Ashland City Police Division
- Ashland City Schools’ Transportation Department
“We deeply appreciate the support from the Ashland Area Safety Council, the Ashland Bike Company, and our many volunteers,” said Dan Lawson, PhD, Director of Community Relations and Development at the Ashland Kroc Center. “The success of this program is truly because of everyone joining forces to educate our youth and help ensure a safer Ashland for tomorrow.”
