The College for Officer Training is pleased to welcome the Messengers of Reconciliation session.

August 2020

Welcome to the College for Officer Training (CFOT) in Suffern, New York! The CFOT faculty and staff are honored to serve the USA Eastern Territory in training and equipping the next generation of Salvation Army leaders.

The need for highly trained and motivated officers has never been greater, and your two-year course of study at the CFOT represents both tremendous opportunity and responsibility. The training and education you will receive here will lay a vital foundation for ministry and continual skill development that will serve you well during the entirety of your officership.

The College for Officer Training is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents. This accreditation ensures that the college is meeting established standards of academic excellence. As an institution of higher education, the CFOT seeks to integrate academic knowledge and practical experience that will enable every cadet to reach their full potential as officers. Cadets who successfully complete the two-year program of study receive an Associate in Applied Science degree.

The overall impact of your CFOT experience will largely depend upon your passionate engagement of all aspects of the training curriculum. The integration of spiritual formation, academic learning, meaningful mentoring and peer relationships, and practical ministry tools will be transformative if you pour yourself into all opportunities for growth. I encourage you to enter into your training experience ready to “do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

God bless you!

Sincerely yours,

Lt. Colonel David E Kelly
