Providing physical needs such as grocery, utility and gift assistance,
to emotional experiences including holiday events and traditions.
Every year, parents must choose between giving their children gifts or paying bills. Individuals facing poverty often spend the holidays without the warmth of a shared meal or even a support system.
The holidays bring added financial and emotional stress to families and individuals living in poverty.
From gifts for children in need to special meals for those who would otherwise go without fellowship on the holidays and meeting other basic needs - we aim to bring joy back into the season.
You can organize a group or company to adopt a family in need and help them have a better Christmas celebration.
Our Angel Tree and Toy Shop programs provide toys to kids who otherwise might not find anything under the tree on Christmas morning.
The Salvation Army helps bring people together for the holidays by providing everything needed for a traditional Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at home and hot meals at our centers.
Giving everyone, young and old, a place to celebrate with others is a simple thing that goes a long way toward helping people during the holidays.
Some Salvation Army locations conduct community coat drives in the fall to provide coats to those in need all winter long.

In response to the pandemic The Salvation Army has revised our Christmas registration and distribution processes. We are once again blessed to partner with The United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots to offer our annual Toy Shop event for families needing Christmas assistance. We will be inviting all the families who registered last year via a letter to be mailed in the near future to the event. Additionally, we will be signing up new families who find themselves in need this year by appointments only through November 1, 2020. If you are in need of help, please call (515) 762-5660.
We hope to make the end of 2020 a ray of hope for the year to come!

In a normal year, you can become a sponsor and help provide much-needed items and a little Christmas magic to families and low-income seniors in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
All families are verified low-income and are paired with kindhearted and generous sponsors who purchase presents for the families. Gifts are then wrapped and dropped off by sponsors at our distribution center.
As the COVID-19 health concerns persist, we have made the careful decision to suspend our Adopt-a-Family program for 2020. Instead, the families otherwise involved in our Adopt-a-Family program will be invited to participate in our prepackaged Toy Shop.
In lieu of in-kind gifts, please consider starting a virtual kettle for your company or group to help us meet the need for children and families this Christmas who will be served through the Toy Shop. All gifts of support will help put toys under the Christmas tree or provide food for a holiday meal.
The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help prepackage and distribute Toy Shop gifts.
Corporate and community volunteer groups and service groups; church groups and retired senior volunteer programs often aid The Salvation Army during the holidays and throughout the year.
Please contact Alison Benz at 513-762-5618 or Alison.Benz@use.salvationarmy.org for additional information.
