Smiles Make the Greatest Gifts Image

Smiles Make the Greatest Gifts

Providing physical needs such as grocery, utility and gift assistance,
to emotional experiences including holiday events and traditions.

Every year, parents must choose between giving their children gifts or paying bills. Individuals facing poverty often spend the holidays without the warmth of a shared meal or even a support system.

The holidays bring added financial and emotional stress to families and individuals living in poverty.
From gifts for children in need to special meals for those who would otherwise go without fellowship on the holidays and meeting other basic needs - we aim to bring joy back into the season.

The Salvation Army helps make
spirits brighter during the Holidays through:

Adopt-a-Family program

You can organize a group or company to adopt a family in need and help them have a better Christmas celebration.

Angel Tree & Toy Shop

Our Angel Tree and Toy Shop programs provide toys to kids who otherwise might not find anything under the tree on Christmas morning.

Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets

The Salvation Army helps bring people together for the holidays by providing everything needed for a traditional Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at home and hot meals at our centers.

Holiday parties for youth or older adults

Giving everyone, young and old, a place to celebrate with others is a simple thing that goes a long way toward helping people during the holidays.

Coats and winter gear for youth and adults

Some Salvation Army locations conduct community coat drives in the fall to provide coats to those in need all winter long.

Want to Help?

Adopt-a-Family

You can become a sponsor and help provide much-needed items and a little Christmas magic to families and low-income seniors in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

All families are verified low-income, they are paired with kind-hearted and generous sponsors who purchase presents for the families. Gifts are then wrapped and dropped off by sponsors at our distribution center. If you or your group (organization, club, church, business) would like to adopt a family or senior in your community, download an application below.

Group Volunteer

The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help distribute the gifts along with food for holiday meals to the participating families.

Often times, employees and family members of the sponsoring organization help distribute their group’s gifts throughout their community. Corporate and community volunteer groups and service groups; church groups and retired senior volunteer programs often aid The Salvation Army during the holidays and throughout the year.

Please contact Alison Burry at 513-762- 5643 or
Alison.Burry@use.salvationarmy.org to volunteer this Holiday Season.
