The Salvation Army Brooklyn Brownsville Corps launches the second round of the “Helping Hand” Grant (HHG) Scholarships for 2022.

We are looking for enthusiastic students who are passionate about helping others in their community, giving back and always being good citizens.

The HHG scholarship is open to current high school seniors who commit to developing their skills and higher education. 

To qualify, students must be attending the following Brownsville/East New York area schools:

•      W. H. Maxwell Career and Technical Education High School
•      Transit Tech Career and Technical Education High School
•      Brownsville Academy High School
•      Teachers Preparatory High School
•      Performing Arts and Technology High School
•      World Academy for Total Community Health High School
•      FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety
•      High School for Civil Rights

Minimum grade point average to be considered for the “Helping Hand” Grant is 2.3 on a 4.0 scale.  The “Helping Hand” Grant awards also based upon personal achievements, character, social awareness, volunteer efforts, and career goals of the applicant. To apply, students must submit completed application with two letters of recommendation and current high school transcripts.

Applicants are also required to interview with the Grant review committee.
