This holiday season, The Salvation Army expects to see a greater need for our services – more than any in recent history.
Unemployment rates are expected to be 10%-11% and based on the increased service we’ve already provided this year due to COVID-19, we need resources to serve up to 155% more people with Christmas assistance.
Adopt-A-Family
Sponsor a family that is in need through our Adopt-A-Family program. This program connects impoverished families with individual or group sponsors to provide gifts and tangible needs at Christmas.
Sponsors come in many shapes and sizes. They can be individuals, families, small businesses, or large corporations. Many sponsors find the experience so fulfilling that they participate in the program year after year.
Note: By registering for Adopt-A-Family the sponsor is committing to providing gifts for the entire family.
COVID-19 has not only created a bigger need for us to fill, but it has also decreased the number of traditional red kettles you’re used to seeing on street corners and at store entrances each Christmas season. In fact, we could see up to a 50% decrease in red kettle funds this year due to several factors, including:
Our work this holiday season is going to be even more crucial to serving the most vulnerable – regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or gender orientation – in your community.
It’s that time of the year again when we look forward to spending time with family and friends. While you are busy preparing for the holidays, we ask that you don’t forget that there are many that go without during this time. Looking for ways to give back during the holidays? Here are three ways to get involved at The Salvation Army during the holiday season:
Whether it’s ringing bells during our most-famous Red Kettle campaign or serving food at one of our soup kitchens or sorting and wrapping gifts, the donation of time is one of the biggest gifts you can give The Salvation Army during the holidays.
To donate directly to The Salvation Army in New Jersey, text NJKETTLE to 41444 or Donate Online. Donations collected during Christmas help provide assistance to families and individuals during the holidays and throughout the year.
We are always looking for people to ring bells at our Red Kettles.
