Montclair Salvation Army Starts 'Red Kettle' Fundraising Early
From Yahoo! News: For the first time in 130 years, The Salvation Army has started its annual holiday fundraising campaign early.
Last weekend, along with others across the nation, The Salvation Army Montclair Citadel Corps held their Red Kettle Kick Off to start the season of giving. The event took place in front of the Coldwell-Banker Realty on Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair. Montclair Mayor Sean Spiller and Deputy Mayor/1st Ward Councilor Bill Hurlock were in attendance, as well as Salvation Army staff, volunteers, musicians and bell ringers.
The annual fundraising campaign was started early this year to “rescue Christmas,” as the funds normally raised through the organization’s iconic red kettles are at risk this year due to COVID-19, organizers said.
