Education is a ticket out of poverty.

The Salvation Army ensures kids are equipped with the tools they need to succeed, which starts by meeting their basic needs.

Providing a safe place to play and a warm bed to sleep in for youth is just the start. We take a holistic approach by providing programs with life-long impact such as character-building programs, summer camp opportunities, sports activities, music education, after-school programs, mentorship and more. Through mentoring and education, disadvantaged children and teens are shown the possibility of a better life.

How we help empower youth:

Camp Sebago

Each year Camp Sebago enriches the lives of many. Whether a seven year old away from home for the first time, a teenager who spends a summer on staff, or a senior at camp for a weekend retreat, Camp Sebago holds a special place as a lifelong memory.

The overall purpose of camping at Camp Sebago is to care for every aspect of the camper's life. This includes provision for the spiritual, educational, nutritional, social, and recreational needs of campers through creative, healthy experiences in cooperative group living in an outdoor setting.

Music Programs

The arts are being cut from schools facing budget restraints or treated as an elective. We disagree. Music, dance, and art are crucial for youth development and enrichment. Our diverse programs offer instrument training, drama, dance, and more. In addition to receiving free music lessons, students receive warm meals and spiritual formation.
