Education is a ticket out of poverty.

The Salvation Army ensures kids are equipped with the tools they need to succeed, which starts by meeting their basic needs.

Providing a safe place to play and a warm bed to sleep in for youth is just the start. We take a holistic approach by providing programs with life-long impact such as character-building programs, summer camp opportunities, sports activities, music education, after-school programs, mentorship and more. Through mentoring and education, disadvantaged children and teens are shown the possibility of a better life.

Salvation Kid's Club

Who: Kids in grades K-5th

When: Thursdays from 3:00pm-6:00pm

Where: The Salvation Army, Community Center

What Else: Includes games, crafts, stories and dinner!

Salvation Youth Group

Who: Teens in grades 6th-12th

When: Fridays from 7:00pm-9:00pm

Where: The Salvation Army, Youth Room

After School Program

Who: Kids in grades 1st-8th who attend select Nashua Public Schools

When: After school until 6:00pm

Where: The Salvation Army, Community Center

How Much: $40 per child per week.

What Else: Includes homework time, a healthy snack and age appropriate recreation

How we help empower youth:

Camp Sebago

Each year Camp Sebago enriches the lives of many. Whether a seven year old away from home for the first time, a teenager who spends a summer on staff, or a senior at camp for a weekend retreat, Camp Sebago holds a special place as a lifelong memory.

The overall purpose of camping at Camp Sebago is to care for every aspect of the camper's life. This includes provision for the spiritual, educational, nutritional, social, and recreational needs of campers through creative, healthy experiences in cooperative group living in an outdoor setting.

Teen Programs

The Salvation Army realizes that teens are still trying to navigate life. Each location may offer a little different opportunity for this age group as it relates to their communities.

Corps Cadets The Corps Cadet program prepares youth for a lifelong commitment to spiritual growth and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (discipleship) and for serving God and The Salvation Army to the fullest extent possible.

Local units also offer teen bible studies, drop in centers, fellowship and education. Our desire is for teens to know their worth and feel safe at their local Salvation Army.

Music Programs

The arts are being cut from schools facing budget restraints or treated as an elective. We disagree. Music, dance, and art are crucial for youth development and enrichment. Our diverse programs offer instrument training, painting, drama, dance, poetry, and more. In addition to receiving free music lessons, students receive warm meals, character development programming, spiritual formation and life skills mentoring.

After School Programs

We bring children into an environment where the learning continues long after the bell rings. The Salvation Army operates hundreds of after-school programs to give kids a safe place to play, do homework and pursue extracurricular goals. During a time where they could otherwise be at risk, we open our doors to kids for growth in literacy, sports, arts and music skills.

Character-Building

Building character starts young and helps determine who a child will become in life. Our programs help develop a child's unique personality and individual strengths, based on Biblical principles. Girls can attend Moonbeams (preschool to Kindergarten), Sunbeams (first through fifth grades) and Girl Guards (sixth through 12 grades). Boys can attend Moonbeams (preschool to Kindergarten), Adventure Corps Explorers (first through fourth grades) and Rangers (fifth through eighth grades).
