Pathway of Hope | Keisha
Keisha is a warm, resilient soul who left her home in Trinidad and Tobago to rebuild her life after the pandemic. Thanks to you, she and her family have found a home.
She, her husband, and her son arrived with only three suitcases. When Keisha came to The Salvation Army for help with food, she learned about our Pathway of Hope program, which gives families facing poverty the tools, guidance, and support to become self-sufficient.
The program has been a guiding light for Keisha. “It’s not easy being a stranger in a new country. They really helped me get my footing,” she says.
She received help enrolling her son in school, as well as youth activities. “Every day after school, he had something to do. It was soccer, it was swimming, it was hockey,” she says.
Keisha also took part in our financial literacy program, where she learned how to budget and build credit. Ultimately, your support made it possible for her to buy a car, get a work permit, find a job, attend community college, and even become a first-time homebuyer.
