Changing Lives and Giving Hope Image

Changing Lives and Giving Hope

Camp SWONEKY gives hope to children by providing a place for them to learn and play in a safe environment.

The goal of The Salvation Army’s Camp SWONEKY is to provide every child we serve the opportunity to have an exceptional and affordable summer learning experience. Our camp staff and mentors have experience working with children whose families are trapped in difficult family situations, and know how to provide hope for their future. Our camp is not just about fun, of which there is plenty, but also allowing our campers, ages 7 to 14, to get outside of the city, breathe some fresh air and embark on a trail to self-discovery - all in a safe, and nurturing environment. Most importantly, Camp SWONEKY is a place where children are able to find intimate relationship with God, through mentoring in an idyllic setting.

Camp SWONEKY is located in Oregonia, OH, just outside of Cincinnati. Campers stay in spacious, air-conditioned cabins with bathrooms and showering facilities. Each cabin has two camp counselors assigned for supervision. Nutritious meals are prepared three times a day in our on-site kitchen and dining hall, and fellowship activities are conducted daily in our Worship Center.

Throughout their stay, campers get to enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Campers have the ability to experience sports, small scale farming, wildlife, rock wall climbing, zip lining, bouncing pillow, swimming, archery and more. Our Music and Creative Arts camps give children the opportunity to participate in Dance, Drama, Singing, and Instrumental lessons.

Of course Camp SWONEKY provides a multitude of opportunities for our campers to get up close and personal with nature! Boating, fishing, and hiking are all on the agenda for our campers. Camp SWONEKY is accredited by the American Camp Association. Meaning, we have met a set of rigorous national standards regarding safety and training. The staff nurtures campers through a holistic camp experience – body, mind and spirit.

Campers have an option to become “seekers” who have decided to change their life through a personal relationship with God. The camp offers hope and a new foundation of faith upon which to build futures, and returns campers home as better citizens who have a better understanding of their talents, skills and leadership qualities.

Camp is the place where kids can be kids, there are no home responsibilities or neighborhood concerns. When kids come here, they are well cared for.
