Giving the gift of music
When you’re struggling to afford bills, rent, and food, sacrifices must be made. Unfortunately, some of the first things our families facing hard times must cut are extracurriculars for their children.
These children miss out on the opportunity to develop important skills and make lifelong friends. But, thanks to your generosity, we are now able to offer free music lessons for the youth in Asbury Park.
Through your support, this program addresses the needs of the community. When asked, many kids who came in for other services said they wished they could learn an instrument, bur their family couldn't afford lessons.
At Asbury Park Corps, students get to pick between taking hour-long guitar, ukelele, cornet, or dance lessons. Studies have shown that children involved in music and arts programs demonstrate increased confidence and self-esteem and perform better in the classroom.
The class is full of kids strumming guitars, blasting horns, and twirling to the sound of music. Thank you for giving these students their childhood back. Through your support, you have made a real difference in their lives and have given them skills they will carry into the future.
