The Salvation Army Massillon announces Match Campaign to support 25 Days until Christmas

Dec 8, 2021

Massillon, Ohio – (December 8th, 2021): The Salvation Army of Massillon, located at 315 Sixth St. NE in Massillon, has worked tirelessly to ensure their neighbors need food and toys for their families. Recently, Major Thomas Perk, the Commanding Corps Officer, received a reach out from a former Jackson High School graduate looking to renew their commitment to helping support the Massillon community.

Donna Nedelk, President of ARC Randolph and Associates, LLC, a regulatory compliance and training company, now living in Pittsburgh, was born and raised in the Massillon area. Her company offers a Match Campaign of up to $2,500 to go towards The Salvation Army of Massillon’s Christmas Campaign. All donations will be matched through December 31st, 2021. This campaign will be made in honor of Donna’s late mother, Amelia Nedelk.

In the Summer of 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ARC Randolph started their first match campaign with The Salvation Army of Massillon to support the Food Pantry. The campaign raised over $700 in only three short weeks.

"When I was a little girl growing up in the Massillon area, my mom never passed a Salvation Army Kettle without giving her children money to put in the Kettle.  Amelia Nedelk never told us to be generous or kind, but rather she modeled that behavior for us in everything she did, and for that, I'll be forever grateful.  With that said, it is my pleasure to announce today that my company "ARC Randolph & Associates" (in Pittsburgh), is awarding this $2,500 "Challenge Grant" in her name in support of the Massillon Salvation Army Food Pantry," stated Nedelk.

“Amelia’s daughter Donna (who is the President of “ARC Randolph & Associates” in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) indicated her company made the matching fundraising offer in memory of her mother who modeled a ‘giving heart’ to her children by never passing the red kettles in Massillon without making a donation. We could not be more grateful for this generous support from Donna and ARC Randolph and Associates, LLC. We hope that our community will rally with us to support this Match Campaign so that we can continue to serve our neighbors in need in memory of Amelia,” stated Major Perks.

The Salvation Army of Massillon’s Christmas Campaign currently features the iconic red kettles and toy program. The Salvation Army has a goal of $100,000 for the red kettles, with all funds going to support year-round programming such as food pantries, hot meals, senior and youth programs to name a few. Additionally, they will be providing toys and clothing to over 1,500 children in need this Christmas season.

“Christmas is a joyous season. Our goal is to provide hope and joy to all those we help. This year, we encourage everyone to give back and inspire others. Just like Donna has inspired us,” said Major Perks
