The Salvation Army Announces New National Board Members

New members bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to a well-established charity

The Salvation Army National Headquarters is pleased to announce the newest members of its National Advisory Board. These outstanding community members are the top achievers in their fields and have a heart for philanthropy and their communities. We are proud to welcome them into the Salvation Army family.

For NAB members, serving on the Salvation Army National Advisory Board presents an extraordinary opportunity to make a profound and lasting impact on the organization. They lend their voices and strategic insights to shape the direction, policies, and initiatives of the organization. It is a chance to leave a lasting legacy, be part of a collective force for good, and leave an indelible mark on the lives of those we serve.

The 2024 new member class of The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board includes Haley Anderson, Special Projects and Events Manager for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Congressman Donald Davis, (NC-01), Dr. Walter Kim, President of the National Association of Evangelicals, Dr. Nicole Martin, Chief Impact Officer for Christianity Today, Rick Piña, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer at Inspired Solutions, Steve Schrobilgen, Senior Vice President and Business Unit Leader for Walmart in the Western Unites States, Art Taylor, President and CEO of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, and Jackie Woodward, Former brand strategist for several noteworthy companies.

“This is one of the most robust and dynamic welcoming classes we’ve had at The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board,” said Commissioner Kenneth Hodder, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “Each of these individuals has been recommended and vetted by our current National Advisory Board and by The Salvation Army. Their vast experience and passion for serving others will help advance The Salvation Army’s mission in the coming years, and I am deeply grateful for their willingness to join us.”

The new members were officially installed during the National Advisory Board dinner in Washington D.C. on January 24, 2024.

Haley Anderson is continuing her family’s legacy joining The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board, whose membership has included her grandparents, Gene and Jerry Jones, owners of the Dallas Cowboys and her mother, Charlotte Jones, who served as the board’s first female Chair.

Currently, Haley is the Special Projects and Events Manager with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC). She is responsible for growing the brand of the DCC through innovative fan engagement including the NBC Today Show Halloween Special, The Salvation Army ‘s Annual Red Kettle Kick Off at halftime on Thanksgiving, multiple TV seasons of DCC Making The Team, and unique music production events with superstar artists.

As a future leader of the Cowboy organization, Haley was selected to attend Stanford’s League of Leaders in 2023.

Congressman Donald Davis has spent his life answering the call to serve -- as a veteran, educator, minister, and dedicated public servant. In 2022, Congressman Davis was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing 19 counties comprising the First Congressional District of North Carolina. The Region 7 delegation unanimously elected him to serve as their representative and on the Steering & Policy Committee.

He graduated in 1994 from the United States Air Force Academy and became a commissioned officer, where he actively served in uniform for eight years. Congressman Davis returned to eastern North Carolina as an assistant professor of Aerospace Studies at East Carolina University Air Force ROTC Detachment 600, where he taught national security affairs, military history, and leadership courses.

Dr. Walter Kim became the president of the National Association of Evangelicals in January 2020. He has served as a pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, VA, after ministering for 15 years at Boston’s historic Park Street Church and previously in campus ministry at Yale University.

Kim has spent nearly three decades preaching, writing, and engaging in collaborative leadership to connect the Bible to the significant intellectual, cultural, and social issues of the day.

He serves on the boards of Christianity Today and World Relief, and consults with a wide range of civic institutions and Christian ministries.

Rev. Dr. Nicole Martin joined Christianity Today in February of 2023, serving as Chief Impact Officer, previously serving on its Board of Directors.

Formerly a monthly columnist for the Faith and Values section of The Charlotte Observer, she is also the author of two books: Made to Lead: Empowering Women for Ministry and Leaning In, Letting Go: A Lenten Devotional.

Rick Piña currently serves as the Chief Operating and Chief Revenue Officer at Inspired Solutions. He is an accomplished technologist with more than 30 years of experience in the information technology field. He retired from the United States Army in 2015 after serving his nation for 25 years.

Rick and his wife, Isabella, lead Rick and Isabella Piña Ministries (RIPMinistries). They oversee a church in the Dominican Republic and operate two schools (Grace Destiny Academy). The ministry provides a Christ-based education to disadvantaged children, training them to become the men and women God called them to be.

Steve Schrobilgen currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Business Unit Leader for Walmart in the Western US. As a key leader and culture champion, Steve has made significant contributions to Sam’s Club and Walmart over the past three decades.

He joined the company as an hourly cart attendant in June 1989 at Sam’s Club in Davenport, Iowa, and over the next 10 years worked his way up through the operational ranks, each role with increased responsibilities and building up his strong understanding of the warehouse business model. In 1999 Steve had the opportunity to connect his passion for members and merchandise, promoted to lead and serve as a Director for Sam’s Club International Membership and Marketing.

Herman "Art" Taylor, leading the BBB Wise Giving Alliance since 2001, has expanded its charity evaluations and introduced the Accredited Charity Seal to enhance transparency and trust in charitable organizations. Beyond his leadership role, Taylor has innovated with initiatives like the blockchain-based donation platform givesafely.io and AI and has significantly contributed to promoting ethical standards and effective governance in the nonprofit sector through teaching, advocacy, and the development of collaborative tools and resources.

Jackie Woodward’s skills as a brand strategist, digital expert, executive leader, and women’s mentor have defined her very successful career.

She was part of the turnaround team at McDonald’s launching “I’m lovin’ it” in 2003. She also managed media, business affairs, and digital growth at MillerCoors and General Mills. Recent positions include the Global Chief Marketing Officer at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Corporation, and Bojangles restaurant chain.

She has been nationally recognized for her talents, including receiving the Chicago Ad Federation’s Ad Woman of the Year award, being named one of the Top 25 Women in Business by the Charlotte Business Journal (2021), and listed in Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2022 Top 50 Franchise CMO Gamechangers. She is a passionate women’s mentor and advocate for helping women grow into their leadership potential.

The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board counsels with Salvation Army leadership to advise on important issues related to furthering The Salvation Army’s mission. This includes business development, social service provision, marketing and communications, foundation and corporate partner development, and more.
