Office Assistant (Part Time) - Altoona

 

  • The Office Assistant provides general administration aid to the Corps Officers and helps to ensure that the everyday business of the Corps runs smoothly.  The Office Assistant will also assist with other administrative needs such as ensure income is counted and properly documented, aid as needed in the Social Service ministries, and makes sure all paperwork is processed properly.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interview clients that are seeking financial assistance
  • Provide support to the officer with clerical and administrative duties
  • Count all income and prepare reports for the Bookkeeper, make deposits as needed.
  • Maintain statistical records and any reports for all activity conducted.  Help prepare monthly reports to submit to DHQ.
  • Help find, apply, and/or secure funding for both specific programs and general operations.
  • Help with all seasonal fundraising efforts – counting funds, depositing, ordering supplies including (but not limited to) Christmas in July, Christmas Kettles, etc.
  • Help with seasonal social service programs as needed – including but not limited to Project Bundle Up, Thanksgiving Dinner, Treasures for Children, Sheetz family Christmas.  
  • Operate common office equipment
  • Answer telephone & take messages
  • Responsible for all social aspects of the office.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to operate office equipment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Required: Valid PA Driver’s License & good driving record

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in office administration related areas.

Human Resources Coordinator (Part Time)  - Divisional Headquarters (Carnegie, PA)

Provide support in functional areas of the Divisional Human Resources Department, which includes verifying that all legal requirements and compliance are fulfilled during the hiring process, maintaining employee files and data and assisting with benefits administration. This position is responsible for assisting and coordinating effective HR support service to divisional officers and employees.

Receptionist (Part Time) - Divisional Headquarters (Carnegie, PA)

First point of contact for Employees, Officers, program participants, volunteers, and guests for all Divisional Headquarters departments.  Responsible for incoming telephone calls to the general telephone line, referrals to other agencies and receiving of special deliveries mail and packages. Also responsible for various department functions as needed.

Camp Allegheny Facilities Manager - Ellwood City, PA

The Facilities Manager is responsible to preserve, protect, maintain, operate and repair the entire physical property and facilities of Camp Allegheny.  These duties should be performed in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of The Salvation Army, the rules and regulations of the PA Department of Environmental Protection and the guidelines of the American Camping Association (ACA).

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have valid PA state driver’s license to operate automobiles.
  • Must have physical ability to lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds without the aid of mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • Must have general knowledge of automobile mechanics and operations, building and equipment repairs, computer operation and operation of building maintenance equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Education.
  • Two-year college or technical school relating to construction or building maintenance.
  • Two years of supervisory/leadership experience. 

Technical Training and Required Certifications:

  • Must possess or be willing to train and obtain
  • Minimum of Class D Sewage Treatment Plant Operator Certification
  • Pesticide Applicators Certification
  • Certified Pool Operators Certification

Pathway of Hope Regional Case Manager – Allegheny County/ Family Caring Center

Support local families on their journey from crisis to stability! Interview, assess, collect client data, collaborate with Corps Ministry Teams and community partners to formulate a personalized plan of action for client families. Must be able to work with clients who are involved with other social service systems, mental health and adults in crisis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Pathway of Hope Director and Corps Officers.
  • Must be conversant in all Pathway of Hope methodology.
  • Work as a team member with Corps Ministry Teams to select viable client families to participate in Pathway of Hope.
  • Work closely with Corps Ministry Teams to form an interdisciplinary team to empower family clients to move from crisis to stability.
  • Maintain a Pathway of Hope specific caseload of at least 6 active families, starting in the 6th month of employment. Seek out new families when graduating or exiting current Pathway of Hope families. Communicate with Pathway of Hope Director if caseload expectation is not maintained for over 1 month.
  • Maintain weekly contact with Pathway of Hope families and log case/care management and all client interactions via ServicePoint within 48 hours.
  • Maintain all statistical reports, case notes, and client assessments as pertains to Pathway of Hope via ServicePoint software.
  • Work closely with Corps Ministry Teams to encourage client families to participate in the holistic program of The Salvation Army.
  • Process Pathway of Hope forms, i.e., recording and maintaining client files according to Salvation Army standards.
  • Must familiarize self with community resources and existing, as well as, potential collaborative partners.
  • Attend Social Service and/or Pathway of Hope Department Meetings and service provider agency meetings as requested by Pathway of Hope Director or Corps Officers.
  • Attend board meeting, community meeting, or trainings as requested by Corps Officers and/or POH Director.
  • Network with service provider agencies.
  • Conduct research into community organizations and businesses for possible Social Services partnerships and volunteers; create and maintain these partnerships.
  • Strictly adhere to Salvation Army policies pertaining to confidentiality, release of information, and retention and/or destruction of records.   If client files are subpoenaed, the Corps Officer will be notified immediately. He/she will notify the General Secretary who will decide how to proceed. Files are not to be released except on instruction by the General Secretary.
  • Work closely with POH Director, Corps Officers, and the Development Department as grant and fundraising opportunities arise.
  • Serve as an advocate for those Family Caring Center (FCC) families who are transitioning out of FCC.
  • Assist Pathway of Hope families at the Family Caring Center at least 2 days each week.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related discipline preferred.
  • At least 2 to 5 years of experience in social work or related field preferred.
