Greater Philadelphia Salvation Army Announces Honorees for 2026 Celebrate Hope Luncheon

Mar 20, 2026

The Greater Philadelphia Salvation Army will host its Celebrate Hope Annual Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026 at The Crystal Tea Room in the Wanamaker Building. The event will recognize civic and community leaders for their service to others while raising funds to support The Salvation Army’s senior services programs throughout Philadelphia.

Proceeds from this year’s luncheon will support programs that help older adults combat loneliness, stay connected and maintain their independence. This includes supporting basic needs, housing assistance and community-based wellness programs. The organization has set a fundraising goal of $300,000 for this year’s event.

Each year, the Celebrate Hope Luncheon honors individuals who embody the spirit of service and leadership that strengthens Philadelphia’s communities. The 2026 honorees include:

  • Congressman Dwight Evans, Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District
Recipient of the “Others” Award, which honors individuals or organizations who exemplify an extraordinary spirit of service to others.
  • Anika ‘Niki’ Hawkins, Vice President of Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships at 6abc WPVI-TV Philadelphia
Recipient of the “Doing the Most Good” Community Leadership Award, presented for outstanding community service and commitment to helping others thrive.
  • Cynthia Figueroa, President and CEO of JEVS Human Services
Recipient of the Eliza Shirley Women in Leadership Award, which recognizes women who exemplify dedication to service, community and faith in the spirit of Eliza Shirley, the 16-year-old Philadelphian who helped bring The Salvation Army to the United States in 1879.

“This year’s honorees reflect The Salvation Army’s mission and values in action,” said Capt. Benjamin Lyle, Area Commander of The Greater Philadelphia Salvation Army. “Through their leadership, service and advocacy, they’ve made a lasting impact on the lives of Philadelphians, especially those facing hardship or isolation. We’re proud to recognize their contributions as we continue working to meet critical needs across our city, including support for seniors.”
