Who We Are

Since its founding in Philadelphia in 1879, The Salvation Army remains focused on meeting needs of underserved communities throughout the region. Today it is one of the most respected charitable organizations in the United States. All of our activities reflect the organizational mission: “The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.”

The services we offer are tailored to the unique needs of our community and are provided in an inclusive manner, without distinction as to race, creed, or other protected status, and regardless of the recipient's ability to pay. Whether embracing those who are without a home, uplifting those who have been abused or abandoned, training and mentoring those in need, providing character building programs for youth, or assisting the displaced or elderly, we aim to serve the most people, while meeting the most needs. We seek to address the whole person – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  The Salvation Army offers hope and creates constructive change in the City of Brotherly Love.
