No household's success should be limited by its ability to overcome hardships
DonateOur services and programs are designed to give every family an equal chance. From social services to summer camps, our programs are available to every family, regardless of your income, to ensure every parent and their children have an equal chance of success.
Free Food Shelf
Through a partnership with several local businesses, we offer a free bread shelf with an array of food items. No income requirements or specific household information is needed. This service is available any day our office is open.
Budgeting Help
The Salvation Army understands that financial hardships can impact any family of any income level. Our caseworker provides budgeting help for any family looking for assistance through us.
Many times allowing households to simply understand their monthly expenses is enough to help them overcome their financial hardship.
Soup Kitchen
We understand the difficulty in asking for help and the importance of healthy meals. Each Wednesday we open our doors to a prepared meal for anyone in need. No identifying information is needed and we encourage everyone to stop by.
Utility Assistance
Our social services caseworkers help families and individuals pay their utility bills when faced with a financial crisis. In-person requests are received throughout the year during normal weekday hours, as well as telephone inquiries and referrals from other human service agencies.
The Salvation Army recognizes a request for assistance with a utility shut-off often involves a complex set of circumstances. For this reason, each applicant receives much more than the processing of his or her paperwork. Through a one-to-one interview, The Salvation Army caseworker aims to identify the other factors contributing to the household's emergency situation and provides other forms of assistance, referrals, budget counseling, and emotional support as necessary. This holistic approach allows The Salvation Army to help in a way that reduces the likelihood of future crises.
Angel Tree
Every Christmas, there are children who do not receive gifts because their families are struggling financially and cannot afford the expense. The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program has been running for over 40 years to ensure that these children have a wonderful holiday season with their families.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program helps hundreds of children each year in the Selinsgrove, Shamokin, and Sunbury areas, through family and corporate partnerships.
Rent Assistance
Our social services caseworkers help families and individuals pay their rent bills when faced with a financial crisis. In-person requests are received throughout the year during normal weekday hours, as well as telephone inquiries and referrals from other human service agencies.
