Too Many Feel the Pain of Hunger

Every day The Salvation Army helps to alleviate hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need

Donate Now

According to the USDA, more than 38 million people in the United States are food insecure. The pandemic has increased food insecurity among families with children, with nearly 12 million children facing hunger.

Emergency Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens, and other feeding initiatives are offered through our Corps Community Centers to help those facing food insecurity for themselves and their families.

Our local programs, which aim to address and end food insecurity, are listed below.

Community Meal Program

The Community Meal program serves dinner Sunday through Thursday and Saturdays (except the 2nd Saturday of each month) at 5:00 PM in our dining room here at 101 E. Market Street.  It is a hot meal including a main dish, sides and dessert.  Breakfast is served Monday through Thursday at 7:00 AM.  All are welcome to attend.

Food Pantry

The Salvation Army of West Chester has maintained a food pantry for over 30 years.  We work with the Chester County Food Bank to receive government subsidized commodities. We provide food to clients every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Manna from Heaven Pantry

Manna from Heaven is a choice pantry (you make your own selections). It serves but is not limited to government qualified individuals.  Because most of our food is donated by the Greater West Chester Community, we can serve folks who do not meet government food assistance thresholds. Clients must live in West Chester zip codes 19380, 19381 or 19382.
