The cost is the same for both the after-school and summer programs. To guarantee continued placement in the program, families are responsible for payment regardless of attendance.
Transportation to the Burke Elementary Complex and The Early Learning Center to the program is provided through Vocell Bus Company, Inc. There is no cost for transportation from your child's school to the program (one way). Families are responsible for child pick-up at The Salvation Army. Please note, we do not offer transportation from the local middle schools. The William Middle School Complex is within walking distance to The Salvation Army in Chelsea.
During the school year, children attend the program from 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. Snack and activities are available when children arrive at the program. Well-qualified volunteers and group leaders are always available for homework help. If children do not have homework, they are able to play in the gym or read quietly during this time.
At 4:00 p.m. children participate in one of our planned enrichment activities that range from science experiments to literary skills to making healthy choices and more.
Free time at a nearby park and the option to participate in a Christian education program add to the well-rounded curriculum, and offer further variation to our busy after-school schedule!
The summer program at Kids' Club is very exciting! Children attend the program from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. They are offered breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day.
At least once a week, the children go on a program-sponsored field trip (the Aquarium, Swan Boats, Frog Pond are a few examples!) that are intended to expose them to art, history, and the rich culture of Massachusetts. Frequent trips to the local pool, visits to the park, movies, gym time, arts and crafts, and much more create an exciting and activity-filled summer!
