A Lifetime of Possibilities

What you do today makes a difference tomorrow.

Help further the work and mission of

The Salvation Army

When you include The Salvation Army in your long-term giving plans, you are establishing a foundation for a strong community. Since our founding, gifts have strengthened our financial sustainability, providing vital support for people of all ages when they have needed our help the most.

There are many ways to make a philanthropic gift that fits your family, finances, and charitable legacy. Below are some simple options that may allow you to benefit by increasing your income and reducing taxes, while fulfilling your charitable goals.

Whether you want to make an impact today or in the future, we would welcome the opportunity to send you additional information or meet with you to take the next steps.

Appreciated Securities

  • Avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated stock
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction

Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

  • Unique rollover provisions allow those 70½ and older to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) of up to $100,000 from their IRA directly to a 501(c)(3) charity like The Salvation Army
  • May satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize deductions

Donor Advised Funds (DAF)

  • Establish a flexible vehicle for annual charitable giving
  • Benefit from a more tax and cost-efficient alternative to a private foundation
  • Obtain a charitable income tax deduction in the year of your gift

Charitable Gift Annuities (CGA)

  • Receive fixed payments to you or another annuitant you designate for life
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction for the charitable gift portion of the annuity
  • Benefit from payments that may be partially tax-free

Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)

  • With a minimum of $100,000 you can establish a trust where you and/or your beneficiaries will receive an income stream for life or a fixed term
  • Save on gift and estate taxes and avoid capital gains tax

Even if your best option is a gift of cash or a simple bequest, we
want to help you make the gift that brings you the most personal
satisfaction and advantages. Please contact our Advancement Team
with questions regarding the opportunities available to you.
