We serve the Elizabeth Community Image

We serve the Elizabeth Community

We exist to meet human needs wherever, whenever, and however we can through programs that serve the mind, body, and soul.

Where do we serve?

We are sincere people who seek to live out that goal by saving souls, strengthening saints and serving suffering humanity in Bayway, Elizabeth, Linden, Roselle Park and Union.

The Salvation Army feeds an average of 156,000 every single day in the U.S.

In addition to addressing the immediate symptoms of food insecurity, our programs are designed to help identify and treat its root cause. This approach focuses on meeting the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of each person and helps move many from hungry to fully healed.

The Salvation Army of Elizabeth offers a variety of services to the community from Rental and utility assistance to shelter nights and hot meals to those in need. The Salvation Army has been serving the City of Elizabeth for over 100 years and our mission is to serve our clients with their basic needs.

At our Elizabeth Shelter, we continue to give not only a place to stay for those in need but we also help them connect to all of the resources we have in our community so they can move into a more permanent place of residence. We help them with finding housing, going back to school or employment and we are able to continue helping our community thanks to our partnership and partial funding from the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) because of their support we will continue doing the most good for our neighbors in the City of Elizabeth.

Please contact our office for case management, referrals, and rental assistance at (908)-352-2886

The Salvation Army meets the needs of Elizabeth through:

Worship Services and Sunday School

Traditional Sunday morning worship combines music, Scripture, prayer, and preaching to honor God and serve as a time of reverence and reflection on the Holiness of God. The mission of Sunday school is to develop Christ-like character in ordinary people through time-tested spiritual disciplines of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, and activities.

Corps Cadets

A corps cadet is a young Salvationist who undertakes a course of study and training in his own corps in order to become more effective and efficient. The whole program is designed to enhance the value of his future service as a soldier, local officer or officer.

Junior Soldiers

Junior Soldiers is a discipleship training curriculum for children, beginning at age 7 and journeying through adolescence.

Teen Group

Our programs and activities help youth become productive, caring citizens while building meaningful relationships with others. They develop a positive self-image, good character and a healthy respect for others. By being a part of these programs youth learn what it means to be an active part of the community and that they can make a difference, no matter their age.

Prayer and Bible

Mid-week Prayer Service and Bible Study meetings are designed to be both spiritual and educational. This program offers weekly time to study God’s Word and learn practical applications for the Bible’s teachings. It also includes a time of spiritual encouragement through prayer for the needs of individuals, families, the church, and communities.
