We exist to meet human needs wherever, whenever, and however we can through programs that serve the mind, body, and soul.
Where do we serve?
While our programs are open to all, our main area of service is the Newark Ironbound area. Ironbound is a growing and changing community with a diverse population. Programs are currently conducted in the English language. However, our staff speaks Spanish.
The Salvation Army in Newark Ironbound offers worship services every Sunday. Due to COVID-19, we are currently holding our holiness meeting at 11 AM virtually through Facebook.
Prayer Service and Bible Study meetings are designed to be both spiritual and educational. This program offers weekly time to study God’s Word and learn practical applications for the Bible’s teachings. It also includes a time of spiritual encouragement through prayer for the needs of individuals, families, the church, and communities.
By supplying free fresh produce, canned goods, and healthy frozen items, our food pantries provide valuable meal supplementation while helping those in need to maintain their independence and dignity.
The Salvation Army introduces people of all ages to the beauty of the arts, helping them to use their talents to glorify God and bless those around them. From playing in The Salvation Army band to singing in the choir to leading Sunday worship and spreading Christmas cheer at one of our Red Kettles, we offer numerous performance opportunities and community programs for aspiring artists.
Our programs and activities help youth become productive, caring citizens while building meaningful relationships with others. They develop a positive self-image, good character, and a healthy respect for others. By being a part of these programs youth learn what it means to be an active part of the community and that they can make a difference, no matter their age.
Ministry groups provide opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship. The groups plan projects, events, retreats, and experiences to improve their communities and promote a closeness to God. Join our group as we dive into God's Word.
