The Montclair Salvation Army is teaming up with a new café in town and inviting all to come enjoy a warm meal.
The “Pay it Forward” pop-up café hosted its monthly “Donate What You Can” program where guests can either pay with a smile, volunteer or make donations to the Montclair Salvation Army’s programs.
Program founder Nancy Loo says guests were able to select a soup and a side, order their meal to go or dine where they wish at the café. She says the pop-up gives residents a cultural experience.
"It’s integral, I think, to creating a community in terms of there are many - even though we all live in the same location and the same town - there are many groups of us who really don’t encounter each other on a casual basis, on a neighborly basis,” says Loo.
She says she is happy to be a part of something that brings community members together.
