Every day we help thousands of people throughout the Northeast. We offer hundreds of unique, local programs that are designed to meet specific local needs. While we offer a vast array of programs and services, everything we do can be condensed into 12 simple service categories.
Assess the Need
FIRST, we assess the needs of each community in which we serve. We work to understand the obstacles, hardships, and challenges native to the area's particular population.
Build the Programs
NEXT, we build local programs designed to offer immediate relief, short-term care, and long-term growth in the areas that will best benefit the community.
Invest in the Community
THEN, we offer the local programs to the local community, working to continually optimize their efficacy via spiritual, physical, and emotional service.
We are the United States Eastern Territory, which serves communities in Connecticut, Delaware, Northeast Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands. We’re one of four territories in the U.S. and part of an International organization, headquartered in London. The other U.S. territories are: West, South and Central.
Salvation Army territories are made up of areas of service known as divisions. There are 40 divisions in the U.S. – we oversee 11 of them. Divisions consist of centers for worship and service. These are the hubs where service to members of the community actually occurs. Our doors are open to all.
