Students from Howard University Spend Alternative Spring Break with The Salvation Army

What: The Salvation Army in Greater Cleveland is making life better for their neighbors in need with support from students from Howard University. In its 32nd iteration, Howard’s student-led collegiate spring break service initiative helps both large and small cities across the United States. With The Salvation Army, the students will be helping to re-stock food pantries, support hot meal programs, and other essential services at the organization's sites throughout Greater Cleveland.

Who:

  • Captains Travis and Zuheil Barton- Commanding Corps Officers, The Salvation Army in East Cleveland Corps
  • Major Demetrius and Juanita Stanford- Commanding Corps Officers, The Salvation Army in Cleveland West Park Corps​​​​

Why: Students collaborate with local organizations, like The Salvation Army, to address violence prevention, housing stability, disaster relief, food stability, and community development. The Salvation Army has been a proud partner of Howard University to help develop the future collegiate youth as they work to lend a helping hand on their alternative spring break.
