The Salvation Army in Cambridge, Meets Increased Needs this Past Christmas
Cambridge, OH (January 4th, 2023) – The Salvation Army in Cambridge, OH, has officially closed the books on its 2023 red kettle campaign. The organization received $86,000 in the iconic red kettles, achieving 86% of their overall $100,000 goal. These funds will be used year-round to provide food pantry items, utility assistance, programs for youth and other essential needs throughout Gurnsey County.
“We extend a big thank you to our Gurnsey County community for its continued support of our work and mission each holiday season. Every dollar donated provides hope to others facing hardships. Our community center is focused on meeting human needs throughout the county to ensure life is better for our friends and neighbors,” stated Captain Candice McMillen, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Cambridge, OH.
Leading up to Christmas, The Salvation Army in Cambridge provided coats, toys, and food to families in need through their Christmas assistance program. This year, 529 children were provided with coats. We were also able to impact 321 families with children with toys for Christmas, and a total of 519 families were given food to enjoy a Christmas meal from The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance program. During the holiday season, over 1,100 individuals were supported through the various Christmas program efforts, which is a 57% increase over last season.
“Our Christmas Assistance Program is one of our most rewarding programs. We never want to see a child go without a toy to unwrap at Christmas or a family without a holiday meal. We are grateful for the support of all our corporate and community partners and individuals who provided thousands of donated coats and toys. Each is a valuable piece to ensure that no one gets forgotten at Christmas,” stated McMillen.
