The Salvation Army Joins Forces with Walmart to “Stuff the Bus” for Kids in Need

Aug 5, 2021

August 6-7-8, 2021 Summit County Walmart Stores: Fairlawn, Arlington, Macedonia, Stow

During this year’s Stuff the Bus event, Walmart shoppers can drop off typical back to school supplies* at The Salvation Army contactless collection bins at the front of the store from August 6-8. If preferred, items purchased may be dropped off at The Citadel’s Hall Street Administrative entrance the week of August 9 through 13 from 9AM to 3PM. The goal is to provide new school supplies to hundreds of children in need for a fresh start to the school year and a return to learning after the pandemic interruptions.

Walmart and The Salvation Army have collaborated for more than 30 years to meet local community needs. Supporters like Walmart help The Salvation Army serve more than 30 million Americans each year through a range of social services that help them overcome poverty and economic hardships.

Since the start of the pandemic, The Salvation Army has provided more than 225 million meals through a combination of prepared meals and food boxes, 9.6 million nights of shelter, and emotional and spiritual support to more than 902,000 people, in addition to the financial assistance, hygiene kits and youth programs the organization provides in almost every ZIP code in America.

Locally in Summit County, The Salvation Army provided 288,585 meals in FY 2020 through its pantry programs, and 32,532 hot meals, and these numbers are trending significantly higher for FY2021.

Stuff the Bus donations will be kept within the community to provide back-to-school support to local children in need.
