Each year, The Salvation Army provides over 10 million nights of shelter to those in need

About 15% of all homeless people are considered “chronically homeless.”

Homelessness can happen to anyone - single men, single women, entire families, the elderly, children or young adults. No one population is immune. That's why our doors are always open, and we embrace all who walk through them.

There is no such thing as no place to go

From emergency shelter to long-term housing assistance, The Salvation Army provides a wide array of services to those facing life on the streets.

How we help provide housing

The Salvation Army's Northern New England Division operates two shelters that serve people who are homeless. Shelter guests are provided with comprehensive services, including: emergency housing, nutritious meals, case management, and assistance with job searches. Shelter staff work to help guests prepare to move to permanent housing. Such preparation includes securing an income, applying for benefits, applying for assistance for first month's rent or a security deposit, as well as finding suitable accommodations that will allow guests to transition back into the community successfully. Each shelter provides unique services, with the Laconia Carey House serving individuals as well as families the Concord McKenna House serves men and women.
