Salvation Army Welcomes New Leaders to Northern New England

Sep 14, 2023

Portland, ME—The Salvation Army welcomes Majors Crista-Lynn and Stewart Dalrymple as the newly appointed leaders of the Northern New England Division with responsibilities for all aspects of The Salvation Army's ministry and service in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.

Major Stewart Dalrymple assumes the role of Divisional Commander while Major Crista-Lynn becomes the Divisional Director of Women's Ministries. The Dalrymples succeed Majors Mark and Sue Mackneer who recently retired after 42 years of service as Salvation Army officers.

Majors Dalrymple are both second-generation Salvation Army officers who were born in New Brunswick, Canada. They were involved with their parents' ministry while growing up and felt the Lord's calling for them to serve as they entered young adulthood.

The Dalrymples met at The Salvation Army's youth music camp in Canada. They were married in 1996 before becoming cadets at The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in Suffern, NY.

They have served as Salvation Army officers for 23 years in various corps positions and at Divisional Headquarters, most recently at Divisional Headquarters in Greater New York. Other appointments have been located in the Southwest Ohio (SWONEKY), Western Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Southern New England Divisions.

Major Crista holds a BA in Political Science and a master's in theological studies and Major Stewart holds a bachelor's in music, BA in Education and an MBA. A gifted musician, he was a longtime cornet player with The Salvation Army's famed New York Staff Band traveling extensively throughout the world.

The Majors look forward to providing programming, services, and opportunities to those in need throughout the division alongside a committed team of Salvation Army officers, staff, volunteers, and supporters.

The Dalrymples have two adult children, Mackenzie and Meredith. In his free time, Stewart enjoys spending time with his family, playing his instrument, golfing, and biking. Crista enjoys baking, walking, and planning the family's next vacation. Majors Crista and Stewart reside in Scarborough, Maine.
