How do you want to change the world?

Donors who choose, can direct their support toward a specific purpose that matches their personal interests with the needs and priorities of The Salvation Army and the communities we serve. Conversely, a donor can leave that decision to The Salvation Army to apply to where the needs are the greatest. Such purposes include Feeding programs and Soup Kitchens, Homeless Shelters and Rapid Re-housing initiatives, Early Learning Centers for pre-school children, Emergency Disaster Services, Camp, and Youth programs.

Dear Valued Donor,

Helping those in need is the heart of our mission, and it is an honor to partner with compassionate individuals like you who bring that mission to life. Your generosity adds meaning and purpose not only to your own life but to the countless lives you touch through your philanthropic support.

We deeply respect the trust you place in us to carry out your charitable goals. That’s why we remain steadfast in our commitment to stewarding every donor dollar with the greatest care. We take pride in applying 83 cents of every dollar donated directly to our programs and services throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Your kindness generates hope for those facing hardship and has the power to transform lives in ways both immediate and lasting. I would love the opportunity to connect with you, learn more about what inspires your support of The Salvation Army, and share the many ways you can make a lasting impact—including donor-advised funds, gifts of stock or real estate, and other meaningful ways to support. Please feel free to contact me anytime to explore how we can align your philanthropic goals with the greatest areas of need.

Thank you for standing with us to bring hope, healing, and opportunity to those who need it most.

Gratefully yours,

Holly Fink

For 150 years, The Salvation Army has fulfilled its mission to Do the Most Good, thanks to significant gifts of support from our loyal donors.

Your investment has been written on the lives of the poor, the hungry, the discouraged, the unemployed, and the forgotten who reach out to us for help and assistance in meeting the basic necessities of life. It has also been written on the lives of The Salvation Army Officers who have taken up the mantle of service in our communities.

Gifts of support to The Salvation Army ensure our ability to sustain a comprehensive range of Social Services that serve and uplift, Youth, Veterans, Homeless, Hungry, Elderly, Unemployed, and those who seek to enrich their faith through worship at our church services. Through your generosity, we can maintain and restore Corps Community Centers (where the bulk of our work with the poor and underserved takes place), and create new programs that address the challenges and needs of our time.

Endowment Gifts... Enduring Impact

Gifts toward endowment are invested by the Army, and the income from the gift is directed toward a purpose selected by the donor. That purpose could be "restricted" to the services we provide in your hometown or it can be used broadly to address a widespread need facing communities in our region.

Only the income from the principal is expended in accordance with the Army's spending rule, so that the gift continues in perpetuity, helping to safeguard The Salvation Army's commitment to serve those most in need against changing economic climates.

Endowment opportunities are flexible in nature, offer naming opportunities, and are structured in collaboration with the donor to meet the donor's specific intent for the gift.
