The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope to countless people throughout the nation. But it never does it alone.

Volunteer Today!

From its inception, The Salvation Army has relied heavily on volunteers who support its programs. Often referred to as "the army behind The Army," volunteers play a crucial role in The Salvation Army's ability to provide quality social services for the entire community.

CORPORATIONS

Give back to your community by involving your company or group in a volunteer day. Team build, develop leadership skills and bond with your coworkers while touching the lives of others.

Volunteer opportunities exist in the following areas:

Projects: Range from painting and building beautification to mentoring and playing with children.

Holidays: Discover the joy of giving back to your community during the giving season by hosting an office gift or food drive for families in need.

Camp CONNRI: More than 1,000 kids have attended camp each summer since 1979. As you can imagine, each offseason the camp has maintenance project needs, and much of that help comes from corporations. Many choose to give employees a "Service Day" so they can get their hands dirty for a good cause.

YOUTH

Since its beginnings in 1865, The Salvation Army has always focused part of its work on helping children reach their full potential. Volunteer opportunities exist in the following areas:

Teaching Assistants: Tutor, teach curriculum and mentor children ages 2-7.

After School Programs: Help children build self-esteem, develop appropriate social behaviors and learn academic skills. Also, plan creative activities, play and work on arts and crafts projects.

Teen Mentors: Work with and challenge youth on issues that affect their decisions and lives. Plan social activities, coach sports, play games and music and help with academic work.

SENIORS

While many seniors may feel left behind by society, The Salvation Army makes every effort to engage them in meaningful and worthwhile programs. Your involvement in the following programs will change a life:

League of Mercy: visit seniors on a monthly basis. Plan activities, play games and keep them company.

Seniors Program Assistant: play games, converse and serve lunch to elderly citizens who utilize Salvation Army programs.

OFFICE ASSISTANCE

Whether you're a stay-at-home mom or the head of a corporate company, many people find volunteering fulfilling. The Salvation Army is in need of individuals who can handle a variety of administrative tasks ranging from collating papers to custodial work. Opportunities exist in all areas, including:

Receptionist: Excellent customer service, phone and interpersonal skills required.

Clerical Work: Help organize files, make copies, complete mailings and answer incoming calls.
