Preparing for success
For many children, the new school year is a time to get new clothing and shoes to replace the ones they outgrew over the summer. But for families who struggle to make ends meet, these basics seem like luxuries.
Fortunately, with help from generous friends like you, children from disadvantaged families can go back to school looking – and feeling – their best.
In August, The Salvation Army's Boys & Girls Club of New London took about 50 children shopping so they could each get new shoes and pick out a brand-new back-to-school outfit.
"The Salvation Army's Boys & Girls Club continues to offer free, high-quality programs with trained staff, caring mentors, and most importantly, a safe place to study and grow," says Captain Adriana Gonzalez-Cottrell.
"By providing back-to-school sneakers and outfits for the kids in our Club, we are helping boost their confidence and pride, ensuring a great first few days of the new school year. It is truly a blessing to watch these boys and girls grow into tomorrow's leaders," she adds.
Your support makes this and all our youth programs possible. Thank you for giving boys and girls the resources they need to get off to a strong start in school – and in life.
