Chinese-American community donates carloads of food to Salvation Army

During times of crisis, when people are in the most need, we can all take solace in the fact that there are people and organizations ready and willing to help. The Salvation Army and Midwest Food Bank are two such organizations.

The Salvation Army and Midwest Food Bank have been longtime partners during times of need, and we are once again working together to provide emergency supplies to the growing number of people who are in need of food assistance.

On Tuesday, eight pallets of food boxes were delivered to The Salvation Army’s Family Store in Newington, Connecticut. Three of the pallets were then transported to The Salvation Army in Providence, Rhode Island. The Providence location will act as a distribution HUB to serve the three Salvation Army locations in Rhode Island (Providence, Pawtucket and Newport).

The other five pallets will be distributed throughout Connecticut. In total, the eight pallets will provide 11,000 meals throughout The Salvation Army’s Southern New England Division to families who are in need.

Since Hurricane Katrina, The Salvation Army and Midwest Food Bank have partnered together to deliver over 275,000 food boxes during disaster events.
