Mother Helped after Robbery

Mar 2, 2020 | by Southwest Ohio Division

When she came to the service unit post in Athens, a distraught young mother described how all of her things had been stolen while she was away caring for her mother who had become ill.  The burglars took it all, including the clothes and shoes that belonged to her and her kids.

When asked what she needed most, the woman replied, sobbing, "everything, they took everything."But at The Salvation Army, this mother heard "Everything will be OK, we're going to do everything in our power to help you out the best we can.”

They gave her pots, pans and dishes to use, plus vouchers to Goodwill to get clothing for herself and her children. It’s thanks to the generosity of supporters like you that The Salvation Army can deliver such reassurance and help when people find themselves at their lowest. In tears when she arrived at The Salvation Army, this woman left feeling like there was hope left in this world. “She said ‘thank you’ about 20 times.”
