CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — The Salvation Army has been on the ground in seven states helping survivors and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
They have served over 17,000 meals, provided shelter for thousands who have been displaced in Greenville and Aiken in South Carolina, and Henderson and Asheville in North Carolina, and provided spiritual and emotional support for the victims.
“Recovery for Hurricane Helene will go on for years,” Corps officer of the Salvation Army of Charleston Joshua Davis says. “Because of our quick response to hurricanes or other kind of natural disasters, all of our resources are currently on the ground.” Davis said their teams will be serving for weeks to come.
Officer Davis said the best thing you can do to help is with financial contributions so they can replenish supplies. Those monetary donations will be sent directly to those serving on the ground in the Carolinas.
