Child of God
As the final selections were being made and volunteers and young shoppers were heading to the checkout lines, arms overflowing with coats, hats, gloves, scarves and winter boots, a little girl paused, and a puzzled look flushed over her face. She approached The Salvation Army Officer coordinating the trip, tugging at the sleeve of her uniform. She had a big question to ask:
“Why are you helping me?”
The Officer’s answer was simple, spontaneous, and profound.
“Because you’re a child of God, and one day, you’ll be called upon to help others, too.”
