The Great Pumpkin of Aspinwall carved to benefit WTAE’s project Bundle-Up
For over 25 years, Joel Keefer and his family have carved and created a spooktacular pumpkin that has become a Halloween tradition. Every year, they travel to Parks Nursery in Canfield, Ohio to purchase a giant gourd from the Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers (OVGPG) association. These pumpkins, which have exponentially grown over the years, have spanned in weight from as “little” as 250 pounds to an unbelievable 1,849 pounds. This year’s Frankenstein Pumpkin weighs in at a whopping 1,683 pounds!
The family decided to start collecting donations for WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up about 12 years ago and have continued every year since then. They have helped to keep 1,000 children and seniors warm throughout Western PA.
We are so grateful for the Keefer family and Keelen Bros. Tree Service for their continued support of project Bundle-Up!
