We’re declaring war and
fighting for human justice

Along with providing immediate refuge and relief for survivors,
we take a holistic approach to healing, helping each client
move from a state of victimized enslavement to self-sufficiency.

Every year, between 14,500 and 17,500 people are trafficked into this country.

In Pennsylvania alone, there were 630 calls and 275 human trafficking cases reported in 2018.
The problem is real. We are not backing down. And we know you aren’t either.

How we help fight for justice

The Salvation Army has long opposed the abuse of human beings, through whatever means, for the profit or gain of another. We have been on the frontlines fighting human trafficking since the time of William and Catherine Booth, who advocated to raise the legal age of consent.

We have come a long way, but the battle is far from over. Human trafficking continues to be a major yet unseen problem in the United States today and, in fact, happens right here in Western Pennsylvania.

Our Commitment

Provide Comprehensive Services to all types of victims of human trafficking, including assistance with food, clothing, housing, crisis intervention and coordination with mental health/addiction services.

Provide Legal Services free of charge for victims of labor and sex trafficking.

Build Capacity by assisting local counties in building human trafficking/trauma informed service provider networks.

Internal Staff Trainings to build awareness, increase victim identification and provide a trauma informed response within The Salvation Army locations by training Officers and staff who provide social services.

External Trainings to build awareness, increase victim identification and provide a trauma informed response in the community by targeting law enforcement, victim service providers, faith-based communities, and immigrant communities.
