Our Doors Are Always Open Image

Our Doors Are Always Open

Each year, The Salvation Army provides over 10 million nights of shelter to those in need

You are not alone, The Salvation Army is here for you.

Sometimes life does not turn out how we planned. Our emergency housing options in Allentown can help. At The Salvation Army, we have Emergency Housing solutions when it comes to those needing a place to rest their head at night.

Homelessness can happen to anyonesingle men, single women, entire families, the elderly, young adults, and even children. No one population is exempt. Any one of us could be a cancer diagnosis, financial crisis, or house fire away from needing aid. That's why our doors are always open, and we embrace all who walk through them. In 2019, there were about 567,715 homeless people living in the United States. While this number had been steadily decreasing since 2007, it has started to increase in the last two years. The Salvation Army offers permanent, supportive and transitional housing, as well as shelter programs to keep individuals and families safe off the streets.

How we help provide housing

Rich Fleming Family Hope Center

The Rich Fleming Family Hope Center welcomes homeless women with children. The facility provides shelter on an emergency basis for forty-five days. Families who are closely working with our case worker and require a longer length of stay to maintain educational goals, to obtain employment and/or who exhibit a strong commitment to the program are granted longer lengths of stays.

Additional Shelters

The Beall and Linny Flowers Hospitality House is designed to provide food and emergency housing to women in need. Underlying this program is a motivation to identify the causes of homelessness and work to alleviate or eliminate homelessness at its source.

During a stay at a Salvation Army shelter, clients will participate in programs and life-skill classes developed to promote self-sufficiency and personal development. The Salvation Army also works with clients to help them transition into a more permanent housing situation.
