The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)

In the wake of a natural disaster, whether it be a smaller-scale event like flooding or more severe like a hurricane, The EDS team is there before, during, and after to help first responders and survivors overcome the hardships that have been heightened as a result of a disaster. The Salvation Army in the Eastern Pennsylvania & Delaware Division works closely with local emergency management officials, fire departments, and police departments to respond effectively to incidents within the community.

How we help meet the needs of disaster survivors:

Meal Services

No one should have to worry about how they will get their next meal in the wake of a disaster. Our mobile kitchens, or "canteens," travel to disaster sites to provie hot meals, water, and snacks to survivors and first responders.

Spiritual and Emotional Care

In the aftermath of a disaster, The Salvation Army provides spiritual and emotional care upon request to victims and emergency workers coping with the stress of a catastrophe. Salvation Army counselors, often our ordained pastors, offer a "ministry of presence" where they are available to provide support.

As is true with all Salvation Army Services, disaster relief and recovery services are provided to all in need without discrimination.
