Empowering Our Adults

We seek to be a leader in ministry and service to and with older adults. We aim to address the changing needs of older adults and engage them in meaningful service roles, thus providing growth and personal development opportunities for everyone. We partner with adults by connecting them with tools and resources to help them through any life struggle. We give people a whole army of support, so they are not alone.

ESL Program

The Salvation Army is committed to helping those in need through a variety of programs. One of these is our English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which helps teach non-native speakers the skills they need to succeed in English. These classes are taught by an experienced teacher from the Chester County School District and offer assistance to those who are struggling with English.

They provide students with increased opportunities, not only through language instruction but also through in-program fellowship activities with peers and connections to job possibilities. The classes are run on a semester basis need and time varies. Free daycare is provided for children during class time.

Adult Bible Study

At The Salvation Army we aim to teach God’s message through fellowship. Our Adult Bible Study is a lesson based program, where a chapter of the bible is explored each week. Participants are given a chance to ask questions and engage in conversation.

The bible lessons are designed to teach them how to break down the bible in a way that is easier to understand and practical to everyday solutions. Every participant goes home with new knowledge and all of their questions answered. This program is offered every week on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Veteran Hospital Visits

The Salvation Army is committed to helping those in need through a variety of programs. One of these is our Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital Visits program, which involves hands on work with veterans at the Veterans hospital in Coatesville. Each visit is designed by the nurses at the hospital and includes activities for volunteers and veterans to work together on. The Salvation Army prepares and provides gifts for each visit based on an upcoming holiday or seasonal occasion.

Going on a VA Hospital visit is an opportunity to connect with individuals who do not always get visits. These visits are done every second Tuesday of each month and run from about 11:00 AM to 2:00PM.
