The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)

In the wake of a natural disaster, whether it be a smaller-scale event like flooding or more severe like a hurricane, The EDS team is there before, during, and after to help first responders and survivors overcome the hardships that have been heightened as a result of a disaster. The Salvation Army in Lebanon works alongside The Red Cross in helping disaster survivors with counseling and guidance. We also offer them a hot meal and refreshments, while The Red Cross helps them obtain shelter. In addition, we provide the same services to our first responders.

Volunteers play a crucial role in disaster response efforts by offering basic needs to those who may have lost everything

How we help meet the needs of disaster survivors:

Immediate Emergency Response

We respond to fires, floods, and other emergencies in Lebanon and surrounding counties immediately. These immediate response activities include hot meals and hydration services, shelter, and counseling. We work diligently with The Red Cross to ensure all needs are met in the wake of a disaster.

Spiritual and Emotional Care

In the aftermath of a major disaster, The Salvation Army provides spiritual comfort and emotional care upon request to victims and emergency workers coping with the stress of a catastrophe. Salvation Army counselors, often our ordained pastors, offer a "ministry of presence" where they are available to provide support.

Volunteer Staffing

We recruit, train, and deploy disaster volunteers. Volunteers are trained to meet all kinds of needs by providing food, shelter, clothing, and emotional and spiritual comfort to those affected by the incident. We also help coordinate community volunteers during large-scale efforts.
