Each year, The Salvation Army provides over 10 million nights of shelter to those in need
You are not alone, The Salvation Army is here for you.
Sometimes life does not turn out how we planned. Our emergency housing options in Lock Haven can help. At The Salvation Army, we have an open door policy when it comes to those needing help with housing—whether they need a place to rest their head at night or assistance finding a way to stay in their own home.
Homelessness can happen to anyone—single men, single women, entire families, the elderly, young adults, and even children. No one population is exempt. Any one of us could be a cancer diagnosis, financial crisis, or house fire away from needing aid. That's why our doors are always open, and we embrace all who walk through them. In 2019, there were about 567,715 homeless people living in the United States. While this number had been steadily decreasing since 2007, it has started to increase in the last two years. The Salvation Army offers permanent, supportive and transitional housing, as well as shelter programs to keep individuals and families safe off the streets.
Shelters and Emergency Housing
Everyone is welcome to come to The Salvation Army to get out of the bitter cold, intense heat, heavy rains, or just to have a safe and quiet place to sleep at night. With every bed comes a nutritious meal and a clean shower. Our shelters are designed for single men and women, with some areas able to accommodate young adults and entire families.
Rent Assistance
When you simply cannot afford your next rent payment, we may be able to help with rent assistance. This type of funding typically ebbs and flows, but if we can help, we will.
Utility Assistance
During a long, cold winter, your heat bill swells and you receive a notice from your energy provider that all utilities will be disconnected unless you can pay the overdue balance. Or, maybe a job loss forced you to choose between paying rent or paying your electric bill. You chose rent and just received an electric shut off notice. We can help.
