While the Season of Giving May be Over, The Needs of the Most Vulnerable Endure
Dear friends,
As The Salvation Army progresses through this year, meeting the needs of our struggling neighbors across Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware, I am so grateful to all those who made the success of the 2023 Red Kettle Season possible.
The Division’s 2023 Red Kettle Campaign raised more than $3.3 million across 34 counties, surpassing last year’s totals. We gave families and children a happy Christmas that will remain in their memories for years to come. Throughout the year, we use these donations to fuel our mission of serving our communities’ most vulnerable members. Often, it is done in several small but important ways like helping a family keep their lights on at night, providing a warm meal, or welcoming a child to one of our after-school programs. Your generosity made it possible. Every dollar contributed, every hour volunteered, and every word of encouragement led to the success of Red Kettle Season. Together, our efforts offered hope and comfort to countless individuals and families.
And it doesn’t to stop there.
While the season of giving may be confined to the holidays, the struggles people face persist year-round. We recognize that needs don't adhere to a calendar. That's why our commitment to serving our communities extends far beyond the holiday season. Your continued generosity fuels us each day as we continue our mission to provide essential support to those in need.
Furthermore, the challenges our neighbors face are evolving, with the ongoing impact of inflation especially the high cost of food exacerbating financial hardships for many. As the cost of living continues to rise, more individuals and families are turning to us for food, housing or utility bill assistance. At The Salvation Army, our work never stops. We remain dedicated to providing year-round services. I invite you to join us in a year-long spirit of giving, whether that’s learning more about our work, giving a donation, or signing up to volunteer with a local Salvation Army.
Together, we can make a difference by meeting these needs, in His name, without discrimination.
Sincerely,
Divisional Commander
The Salvation Army Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Division
