We are an organization dedicated to "Doing the Most Good" in your community.

Who we Are

The Salvation Army is concerned with the needs of all—regardless of race, color, creed, sex, gender or age. We offer a variety of services and programs designed to assist the communities we serve such as emergency disaster relief, emergency assistance, emergency shelter, housing, outreach programs, visitation programs, child care services, youth programs, a specialized program to combat human trafficking, adult rehabilitation, holiday assistance, and more.

We are the Eastern Pennsylvania & Delaware (PENDEL) Division, which serves communities throughout Allentown, Berwick, Boyertown, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Chester, Coatesville, Dover, Leigh Valley Area, Greater Philadelphia Region, Harrisburg, Hazleton, Lancaster, Lebanon, Levittown, Lewistown, Lock Haven, Milton, Norristown, Pottsville, Reading, Scranton, York, and the Delaware Region. We are one of eleven divisions in the Eastern Territory. Divisions consist of Corps Community Centers that provide direct service to members of the community in need and also serves as a place of worship and service. Our doors are open to all.

Our Divisional Leadership         

Lt. Colonels Barbara and Edgar George have served The Salvation Army for over 17 years. Throughout their tenure, they have worked in virtually every corner of The Army's ministry, including leading the Northeast Ohio Division, Boston Kroc Center, Divisional Youth ministries in Western Pennsylvania, and divisional roles in New Jersey. They are no strangers to the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Division, with Lt. Colonel Edgar having served as General Secretary and Lt. Colonel Barbara as Divisional Secretary for Program.

The Georges have been married for 34 years, having met while training to become Salvation Army officers. Now, three of their four children have also been called to work for The Salvation Army, including a son who recently entered officer training. Their extended family, including their parents, spans multiple generations of Salvation Army officers and employees across the country.
