Youth Programs

The Salvation Army ensures kids are equipped with the tools they need to succeed, which starts by meeting their basic needs.

We take a holistic approach by providing programs with life-long impact such as character-building programs, summer camp opportunities, sports activities, music education, after-school tutoring, mentorship and more. At the core of all that we do for youth, fighting for them is synonymous with sharing God's love and grace.

How we help empower youth:

Summer Camps

For many kids, summer camp is the first time they will see the world outside of their neighborhood. Each year, we enable thousands of children from low-income families to enjoy fresh air, exercise, and new friendships through our annual summer camp programs. This camping experience is more than just a few days away from home. Here, children learn new skills and self-reliance. Trained counselors, who understand their emotional needs, help them mature and grow. Camp activities include learning to swim, scouting, arts and crafts, music development, and sports. Basketball Mentorship Boot Camp

Healthy minds and healthy hearts are vital for kids at every age. Basketball Mentorship Boot Camp is a leadership youth sports ministry that helps teach young boys and teens (ages 10-15) how to work together in the eyes of the Lord. The fundamentals of basketball are learned, teams are formed while building life skills (teamwork, conflict resolution, critical thinking, etc.) Program is completely free on Tuesday-Friday from 6 PM - 8:30 PM.

Youth Choir

The arts are being cut from schools facing budget restraints or treated as an elective. We disagree. Music, classes are crucial for youth development and enrichment. Our diverse programs offer youth choir practice on Monday's from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

Children Leadership

The Salvation Army Girl Sunbeam (grades 1-5) and Girl Guard (grades 6-12) program emphasizes discipleship, evangelism, and the development of life skills. Offers opportunities for building relationships with the youth who are members of the program as well as unique opportunities for presenting the gospel. Program runs on Wednesday's 4 PM - 5:30 PM

The Salvation Army Adventure Corps is a character-building program designed for boys in grades one through eight. Its purpose is to assist boys in developing their individuality and potential. Program runs on Wednesday's 4 PM - 5:30 PM

Learning Zone

We bring children into an environment where learning continues long after the bell rings. The Salvation Army operates after-school programs to give kids a safe place to play, do homework, and pursue extracurricular goals. During a time where they could otherwise be at risk, we open our doors to kids for growth in literacy, sports, arts, music, and more. The program is Monday-Thursday from 3 PM- 6PM and Friday 3pm-5pm. For more details call (215) 825-4662
